42 Days Left as Obama Continues to Block Keystone Jobs

January 10, 2012

Despite Broad Coalition of Job Creators Urging Keystone Approval, Workers Are Still Waiting on Obama to End Bureaucratic Delay of Job Creation

Despite a vast alliance of job creators and local officials urging President Obama to stop blocking the creation of tens of thousands of Keystone jobs, President Obama continues to delay this immediate job creation opportunity. American workers are left wondering if President Obama will once again prioritize political payback for his Washington friends over real job creation:

MONTANA QUALITY EDUCATION COALITION: “The Montana Quality Education Coalition (MQEC) and the Montana Rural Education Association (MREA) support TransCanada’s  construction of the Keystone pipeline system in Montana.  These education organizations believe this project  will  benefit Montana communities and schools.  The project will also generate much needed tax revenue for local governments and public schools.” (Montana Quality Education Coalition letter to U.S. State Department, 6/14/2010)

THE ENERGY COUNCIL: “As a legislative organization comprised of energy-producing American states and Canadian provinces, the Energy Council is well aware of the essential role that Canada plays in assuring the United States’ energy security, with regard to crude oil, natural gas, electricity and uranium. … Consequently, the Energy Council strongly supports North American energy infrastructure improvements.” (The Energy Council letter to U.S. State Department, 6/14/2010)

AMERICAN PETROLEUM INSTITUTE AND ASSOCIATION OF OIL PIPE LINES:“North Americans want and need energy, and that means infrastructure is needed to transport energy reserves. …  It is important to note that crude oil from Canadian oil sands is a growing source of reliable energy. Long-term flexibility in supply sources is critical in a world where risks are growing, whether due to declining production from once reliable sources, unstable geo-political situations, or uncertainties in key oil producing regions.  Projects like the Keystone XL and Enbridge Inc.’s Alberta Clipper serve to strengthen North American energy security.” (API, AOPL and CEPA letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, 6/16/2010)
