Illinois’ Struggling Economy Can’t Afford Brad Harriman

January 11, 2012

Good Morning,

After Democrats failed to recruit a strong candidate in this race, today Democrat Brad Harriman will announce that he will run in the open 12th district seat in Illinois. Please consider the following statement from the National Republican Congressional Committee as you cover Harriman’s announcement:

NRCC Comment: “In these tough economic times, Illinois families can’t afford to send Harriman to Washington because they know he will continue Obama’s reckless spending policies and job-destroying agenda that have made life more expensive for Illinois’s struggling working families.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Andrea Bozek

Democrats Struggled To Find A Candidate To Run In Costello’s Seat. “The party struggled to find a candidate to run for Congress in place of U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello, who recently announced his retirement. A whole string of Democrats were offered that plum seat but turned it down. The party finally settled on Brad Harriman, 57, a nice guy who until now never showed any interest in an office other than regional superintendent of schools.” (Belleville News-Democrat, 11/2/2011)
