Does Critz Also “Forget” How Badly His Democrat Economic Policies Have Failed?
President Obama Says Sometimes He “Forgets” How Bad the Economic Situation is for Millions of Unemployed and Underemployed Americans

WASHINGTON — Millions of workers across America who are struggling with long term employment problems probably feel forgotten by Pennsylvania Democrat Mark Critz and President Obama’s failed economic policies, but at least now President Obama has admitted their absentmindedness. With many still struggling after years of the Washington Democrats’ failed leadership and big-government policies, has Critz also “forgotten” about the need for job creation and economic growth?

“Mark Critz’s failed economic policies have left behind millions of forgotten workers who still struggle after years of Democrat leadership in Washington,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “President Obama’s moment of candor would certainly explain why Critz and his fellow Democrats have championed a big-government agenda that is actively hurting the economic recovery instead.”

On Thursday evening, President Obama admitted that “sometimes I forget” how bad the economic situation is:

“And sometimes people forget the magnitude of it, you know?… Sometimes I forget.” (Alexandra Jaffe, “Republicans Want You to Know What #Obamaforgot,” National Journal, 5/10/12)

For millions of long-term unemployed American workers, they certainly feel forgotten despite the record-setting spending spree Democrats have championed in Washington:

“Economic pessimism is on the rise as Americans predict that the unemployment rate will start ticking back upward and expect a deterioration in their household finances over the next year, according to a new survey Friday. Just 22 percent of Americans said that the economy has improved in the past month, down from the 28 percent who said so in February, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll.” (Tim Mak, “Poll: Economic mood grows darker,” Politico, 5/11/12)

Many of these forgotten workers have simply given up hope finding a job:

“The share of working-age Americans who are either working or actively looking for a job is now at its lowest level since 1981, when far fewer women chose to do paid work. The share of men taking part in the labor force fell in April to 70 percent, the lowest figure since the Labor Department began collecting these data in 1948.” (Catherine Rampell, “Reasons Abound for Ebb in Job Growth,” The New York Times, 5/4/12)
