Christie Vilsack continues her duck and cover tour

June 11, 2012

Good Morning,

If you thought Christie Vilsack couldn’t sound any more like an out-of-touch Washington politician, take a look at her recent appearance on Iowa Public Television, where she continued to duck from her support for President Obama’s job destroying policies.

In the segment, she called requiring Washington to enact a balanced budget a “gimmick,” said she thought there were a lot of great things in ObamaCare and then said she wasn’t sure if she supported the individual mandate. In addition, Vilsack confirmed that she wants to increase taxes on Iowa small businesses. (Iowa Public Television, 6/8/2012)

• Vilsack: “[T]here are a lot of great things in that bill…”

• Vilsack: “I’m not for it or against it.”

• Vilsack: “So, it might be the mandate, it might not be the mandate.”

• “Obradovich: Would you allow the Bush tax cuts to expire? Vilsack: Well, yes.”

Her ducks are clearly starting to annoy some of Iowa’s most seasoned political journalists.

• Henderson: So you support the mandate?

• Obradovich: Are you saying you don’t support the mandate then?

• Henderson: We’re journalists, though, we like black and white. Are you for the mandate or are you against it?

NRCC COMMENT: “Vilsack might think a balanced budget is a gimmick, but the real gimmick is her refusal to answer voters questions.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Andrea Bozek
