Jose Hernandez: Off Track

Well, what do we have here…?

Democrat Jose Hernandez appears to have recently edited his Web site to include a full endorsement of the California high-speed rail boondoggle, even as the project continues to cost taxpayers tens of billions with next to nothing to show for it.

A survey in June showed that public support for the project has dramatically eroded, with nearly 60 percent of Californians saying they would oppose the rail plan today.

But Hernandez wants to spend whatever it takes to build this unpopular project, even as California faces the largest deficit in the country.

From Hernandez’s Web site:

“In a few years, the Central Valley will see the first High Speed Rail (HSR) trains bring another alternative for Southern Californians and Northern Californians to move around the state. It is important that we follow through on our commitment to HSR here in the Central Valley as a way to improve our air quality and lower gas prices.”

NRCC COMMENT: “Jose Hernandez’s full embrace of this railroad money pit shows just how reckless he is with the public’s purse strings. Hernandez wants to keep trying the Washington spend-thrift polices that have failed to create jobs.” – NRCC Spokesman Daniel Scarpinato
