NRCC “Corrupt Democrat” Campaign Highlights Nevada’s John Oceguera

Nevada Dem Financially Strains North Las Vegas,  Never Forgets To Collect His Check

Washington — John Oceguera earned a spot this week on the National Republican Congressional Committee’s list of 10 Most Corrupt Democrats, a campaign that highlights Democrats’ above-the-law actions and unethical behavior. While North Las Vegas was on the brink of bankruptcy, Oceguera was one of Nevada’s highest-paid public employees, collecting a stunning $452,000 in 2011. Retiring at age 43, Oceguera made sure to collect his $283,000 in unused sick leave, his $100,000 pension and a taxpayer-funded salary despite the hundreds of city employees who were facing termination.

“North Las Vegas was teetering on the verge of bankruptcy, and John Oceguera did his best to push it over the edge,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Oceguera is looking out for himself, with no regard for what his actions mean to taxpayers and struggling families.”

The script for this ad is as follows:

ANNOUNCER: From personal favors to cover-ups. Backroom deals to special trips. These are the 10 most corrupt Dems of 2012.

This week’s’ corrupt Democrat: Nevada’s own John Oceguera.

North Las Vegas was teetering on the verge of bankruptcy, and Oceguera did his best to push it over the edge.

He retired — yes, retired – at the ripe age of 43.

His parting gift? Oceguera cashed-in a whopping $283,000 in unused sick leave.

 Now he’s even taking a $100,000 pension.

All told, Oceguera collected a stunning $452,000 in 2011, one of Nevada’s highest-paid public employees.

And that was before he double-dipped, pocketing a taxpayer-funded salary in Carson City too.

Must be nice – especially as hundreds of city employees were facing termination.

 It’s no wonder Oceguera’s been called a “world-class hypocrite.”
