Does Jim Matheson Agree with His Democrat Leaders that We Should Go Off the Fiscal Cliff?

Democrats Will Push the Economy Off the Edge If They Don’t Get Another Blank Check

WASHINGTON – If Democrats in Washington don’t get their blank check to continue spending, the economy will plunge into a recession and middle class families will suffer severe tax hikes.  Democrat Senator Patty Murray is willing to let that happen, but Utah families want to know if Jim Matheson agrees that his party’s limitless spending addiction is more important than their economic well-being?

“Jim Matheson’s party is ready for tax hikes go into effect that would fall heavily on small business owners and destroy millions of jobs,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Like others in his party, is he willing to go off the fiscal cliff to scare Americans into funding his blank check spending spree.”

The Obama administration is “absolutely” willing to sacrifice the health of the economy if they don’t get their blank check:

“President Obama’s lead negotiator in the ‘fiscal cliff’ talks said the administration is ‘absolutely’ willing to allow the package of deep automatic spending cuts and across-the-board tax hikes to take effect Jan. 1,…” (Devin Dwyer, “WH ‘Absolutely’ Willing To Go Off ‘Fiscal Cliff’, ABC News, 12/5/2012)

Even Senator Patty Murray has vowed that Democrats are prepared to go off the fiscal cliff if her party doesn’t get the spending they want:

“’I will absolutely continue this debate into 2013,’ Murray plans to say, according to excerpts of the speech provided to The Washington Post.” (Lori Montgomery, “Democrats threaten to go over ‘fiscal cliff’ if GOP fails to raise taxes,” Washington Post, 2/18/2012)
