NRCC Announces Regional Chairs for 2014 Cycle

Congressman Blackburn Picked to Lead Regional Vice Chairs

 

National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Greg Walden announced the Committee’s regional chair structure today for the upcoming 2014 election cycle.  Congressman Marsha Blackburn will be acting as Regional Vice Chair for the Committee, and will be helping to oversee the Committee’s regional efforts.

“Congressman Blackburn is a strong addition to our leadership team here at the NRCC, and her extensive political experience will prove to be invaluable as we approach the 2014 elections,” said Chairman Walden. “I have seen first-hand Marsha’s commitment to her constituents and her colleagues in the House, and I know that she we will be a tireless advocate for the Republican Majority in 2014.”

Congressman Blackburn, a Tennessee native, has been serving as the Representative for Tennessee’s 7th District for over a decade. She is known for being an unwavering advocate for her constituents and a reliably strong voice for tax, telecommunications and small business issues in the House. She is currently serving as Vice Chair of the Energy & Commerce Committee, and is a member of the House Budget Committee.

The other five regional chairs that will be serving with Congressman Blackburn at the Committee are as follows:
Congressman Martha Roby (AL-02), Southern Regional Chair: Martha Roby will serve as Southern Regional Chair for the upcoming cycle. Prior to being elected in 2010, she served as city councilman in her hometown of Montgomery, Alabama. In the House, Congressman Roby has been a forceful advocate for cutting wasteful spending to balance the budget and eliminating bureaucratic red tape that limits the private sector’s ability create jobs. Rep. Roby serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

Congressman Steve Daines (MT-AL), Central West Regional Chair: Steve Daines will be serving as the Central West Regional Chair for the Committee this upcoming cycle. He is originally from Bozeman, Montana, and is serving his first term in the House. He has over twenty-five years of private-sector business experience in Montana, and is currently serving on the House Natural Resources, Homeland Security and Transportation and Infrastructure Committees.

Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16), Midwest Regional Chair: Adam Kinzinger is serving as the Midwest Regional Chair, and just started his second term in the House. He is currently a pilot in the Air National Guard and graduated from Illinois State University in 2000. He has earned the Air Medal six times after serving in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Rep. Kinzinger is currently serving on the Energy and Commerce Committee, as well as the Foreign Affairs Committee in the House.

Congressman Devin Nunes (CA-22), Western Regional Chair: Devin Nunes will be serving as the Western Regional Chair for this cycle, having served as the Representative for California’s 21st District until 2012, and is now representing the 22nd District this cycle. His family has owned and operated a farm in California in Tulare County, where Nunes is originally from, for over three decades. He is currently serving on the Committee on Ways and Means and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and is the Chairman of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade.

Congressman Tom Reed (NY-23), Northeast Regional Chair: Tom Reed will be serving as the Committee’s Northeast Regional Chair for this cycle, as he begins his third term in the House. He is from Corning, New York, where he built his own law firm and worked as an attorney for over 11 years. Rep. Reed currently serves on the Ways and Means Committee in the House.
