Rep. Kevin McCarthy on Obama’s Misplaced Priorities

March 5, 2013

House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy spoke today about President Obama’s real priorities for the next two years. He hit the nail on the head with this quote:

“On election night, after winning you talk to and thank those who supported you, and you think about what you want to achieve for the next term. What did the President do when he won? He called Nancy Pelosi and Steve Israel.  He did not call Harry Reid to talk about legislation to move in the Senate. He did not call Speaker Boehner to say the election is over, let’s work together to put America first. He called the DCCC Chair to say; how we can continue to play politics and win back the House and put Nancy back as Speaker? That is not the goal of America.”

It’s clear that Obama’s main priority for the next two years is helping Nancy Pelosi become Speaker again instead of focusing on cutting spending. House Republicans are the last line of defense between Obama and full Democratic control of Washington. While Obama continues to fly around the country campaigning, stand with House Republicans as they try to tackle Washington’s growing spending problem.
