Obama Trades Taxpayer-Funded Healthcare For Votes

March 26, 2013

Surprising news today and yet another serious problem with Obamacare’s implementation.

It appears that the long application to qualify for Obamacare includes a section that enables the filer to register to vote, The Washington Times reported late today.

“The 61-page online Obamacare draft application for health care includes asking if the applicant wants to register to vote, raising the specter that pro-Obama groups being tapped to help Americans sign up for the program will also steer them to register with the Democratic Party.”

Voting is a fundamental right in our country and, of course, it’s important to exercise that right every chance your get, but as Paul Bedard points out, there are some reasons to be suspicious of motives in this circumstance. obamacare-anniversary-21

First, people may believe that, in order to be enrolled in the program, you must register to vote. That is certainly not true and giving that impression is just plain wrong.

Second, it’s the law that federal departments may only collect information that is needed to do their job. Register to vote or voting status has absolutely nothing to do with government healthcare.

Third, to be blunt: this just plain stinks of the partisan politics that our federal agencies should have no role in. It leaves the impression that President Obama and his bureaucrats are cravenly taking advantage of this disastrous law to recruit a new generation of Democrats and ensure electoral success.

This types of political games have no place in our country. President Obama is using taxpayer-funded healthcare to advance his permanent campaign and he must be stopped.
