NRCC Calls On Dems To Return Tainted IRS Cash

As Dems Reach New Heights Of Hypocrisy, It’s Time To Hold Them Accountable Using Online Ads

The IRS has been embroiled in controversy all week for improperly investigating conservative groups. But as the agency was targeting these organizations, Democrats were gleefully cashing checks totaling over $700,000 from the IRS’s union and the National Republican Congressional Committee is ready to hold them accountable for their hypocrisy.

The NRCC is running paid Facebook and StumbleUpon ads telling Democrats and their campaign organizations to immediately return all of the contributions from the IRS’s union.  It’s time for them to finally come clean and do the right thing. It’s outrageous that they’d even think about keeping the dirty money from an agency ravaged by scandal.

“No wonder Democrats want higher taxes – their campaigns are funded by the IRS,” said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. “They should be ashamed of themselves. It’s time for them to come clean and return the contributions immediately.”

According To A Report From The Treasury’s Inspector General, “Ineffective Management” At The IRS Led To The Recent Scandal. “Ineffective management at the Internal Revenue Service allowed agents to improperly target tea party groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax exempt status, an internal Treasury Department report said Tuesday. Lax managers allowed the practice to go on for more than 18 months, said the report from the Treasury inspector general for tax administration.” (“Inspector General Says Ineffective Management At IRS Allowed Agents To Target Tea Party Groups,” Associated Press, 5/14/13)

The Associated Press Reported That Senior IRS Officials Knew Of The Targeting In 2011. “Senior Internal Revenue Service officials knew agents were targeting tea party groups as early as 2011, according to a draft of an inspector general’s report obtained by The Associated Press that seemingly contradicts public statements by the IRS commissioner.” (“IRS Targeted Tea Party Groups Earlier Than 2012,” Associated Press, 5/11/13)
