Buzzfeed: Senior IRS Official For ObamaCare Placed On Administrative Leave
Buzzfeed’s John Stanton is reporting this afternoon that Fred Schindler has been put on administrative leave after it was uncovered he accepted over $1,000 in free meals during one of the IRS’s infamous conferences.
Though their targeting of Americans for their political beliefs has dominated the headlines recently, USA Today uncovered another IRS scandal earlier this week. On Monday, they reported the agency spent $50 million on conferences between 2010 and 2012. Examples of the wasteful spending included baseball tickets, presidential suites, and a “happiness expert.”
Schindler is the deputy to Sarah Hall Ingram, the official in charge of the IRS’s ObamaCare office. Ingram was formerly the head of the division that handles tax-exempt organizations—the office at the center of the recent scandal involving conservative groups.
Schindler is also not the only IRS official to be placed on administrative leave in recent weeks. Lois Lerner was recently placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into her division for improperly targeting conservative groups.
