Hide & Seek: Minnesota Rep. Collin Peterson Dodges Interview

July 12, 2013

Hey there –

On KX4 CBS Fargo last night, host Chris Berg did a segment regarding the U.S. House Farm Bill vote, and was quite annoyed that Congressman Collin Peterson refused to make an appearance.hide and seek

As he should be! As the ranking Agriculture Committee Member, Peterson owes his constituents further explanation regarding the bill and the reason behind his vote, and what this legislation means for Minnesota.

Said Berg, “Earlier today, I had the pleasure to sit down with North Dakota Congressman Kevin Cramer and ask him, ‘Hey, what does this new Farm Bill really mean.’ And before I share the interview with you, I also wanted to share a statement from Minnesota Congressman and Ag Committee Ranking Member Collin Peterson. Of course, I would much rather have him right here on the show to speak directly to you. But as of late, he just doesn’t seem to want to come on the show and visit with you, his constituents. I don’t know what’s going on, but that’s how it is.”

Yikes. What are you hiding from, Collin? How come you’re dodging local media?

The passing of legislation that is as crucial and important as the Farm bill should not be overlooked and brushed aside – and Peterson should be able to stand up and show face.

When covering this story, please consider the following statement:

NRCC Statement: “Collin Peterson owes his constituents an explanation as to why he’s avoiding them and dodging interviews. Minnesota’s hard working families and local businesses deserve to know how the Farm bill will affect their lives and places of work, and for Peterson to be playing a game of hide and seek during this crucial issue is just unacceptable.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Danielle Varallo
