No Bipartisan Cards in John Tierney’s Deck

Unethical is certainly a phrase that may come to mind when people think of John Tierney. Here are a few others that accurately describe him – partisan, extremist, obstructionist, petulant.

Case in point – last night, the House of Representatives voted on OVERWHELMINGLY bipartisan lines for the Smarter Solutions for Students Act (392-31). As you recall, that bill had previously passed the Senate on bipartisan lines and now goes to the President for his signature.

BUT JOHN TIERNEY VOTED AGAINST IT, and in so doing made a clear statement that he would rather stubbornly stick to his political agenda than actually solve the problems of students who would otherwise face higher loan interest rates.

In fact, of the 21 Democratic House Members in New England, Tierney was one of only 6 that voted against it.

Make no mistake, Tierney is on the fringes of his own party. Perhaps next time Tierney sends out a fundraising email using buzzwords like “extremist” and “obstruction” he should take a look in the mirror.

NRCC Comment: “John Tierney clearly doesn’t have a bipartisan card in his deck. Massachusetts families and small businesses want a representative who can work across party lines and solve problems, not one whose only characteristics are stubbornness, petulance, and making newspaper headlines for all the wrong reasons.” NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
