2 FBI Investigations = A Nervous Joe Garcia

September 24, 2013

After 9 months in office, Congressman Joe Garcia has decided to rent a studio apartment for one-year in the district he represents. Garcia made it a campaign promise to move into the district, but it wasn’t until he was called out by the Miami Herald for not moving that Garcia found temporary housing.

In today’s Key West Citizen:

Garcia rents apt. in KW

“Congressman Joe Garcia (D Miami) finalized a one-year lease for a studio apartment on Grinnell Street Sunday, according to his spokeswoman Jennifer George-Nichol. The move is part of a campaign promise the freshman congressman made to maintain a residence in his district, which includes Monroe County.

Currently, Garcia has a home Miami, outside his district, where he lives near his daughter. He also has a residence in Washington, D.C. Recently, Garcia began taking heat from Republicans for failing to live in the same areas as his constituents.”

So why is Garcia only signing a one-year lease?

Does Garcia finally realize that two FBI investigations surrounding his 2010 and 2012 election will be hard to explain to voters who are sick of corrupt politicians? Or maybe he is afraid that National Democrats will no longer give him campaign money seeing the DCCC is now getting dragged into the shady faux tea party candidate scandal?

NRCC Statement: “It shouldn’t be shocking that Congressman Joe Garcia is worried about his reelect when it has been documented throughout the majority of his first term that he and his political cronies are corrupt. Even the most egotistical politician like Garcia can’t be confident about reelection with two FBI investigations hanging over his head.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Katie Prill
