5 People Who Are Struggling Under ObamaCare

September 30, 2013

With less than 24 hours to go until ObamaCare implementation begins, we wanted to give you a quick reminder of just how harmful the health care law is.

Below are 5 people who shared their stories with us – each one is affected differently by ObamaCare, but their frustrations and shrinking wallets are the same across the board.

indiana 1. “I’m a 30-yr-old healthy, non-smoking female. In the last 3 years, my health care coverage  has gone from $76/month to $102/month…for the exact same coverage. And now, my exact same plan will be raised by 20% this month to $120. $240 MORE per year for absolutely no change in my plan. Obamacare has destroyed my cost-effective emergency health insurance: I am doubtful whether I can continue to cover myself, and I don’t know how my husband and I will be able to afford having children. It is a lie to say that health care will be free for everyone, and it is a lie to say that everyone will be paying their fair share. I have been paying part of someone else’s fair share for the past three years of rate hikes.”– Mary Rose N. from Indiana
OklahomaLRG 2.  “I am a retired firefighter with disabilities. Now that Obamacare is being implemented, the premium has risen again so now my coverage has went from just under $500 to just over $700 dollars per month. When I had to retire after taxes and healthcare, I received  $1200 dollars a month. Now I get awhole $1000 dollars a month to live on and I still have to pay a copay and deductible at the doctors and pharmacy, so really it hasn’t done me any good at all.  So I will be making the decision to eat, or pay for healthcare to keep from being fined by the IRS.”
 – Philip F. from Oklahoma
texas 3. “Since ObamaCare was passed, my doctor has taken early retirement, my employer of 39 years has dropped the coverage I thought I would have for life, and I had to enroll in a supplement to Medicare with a premium of $ 283 per month. I have maintained insurance for my wife through my employer coverage, but when she turns 65 and goes on Medicare, I am looking at another $ 283+ for her coverage. I’m not sure how this will affect our future.”– Mike R. from Texas

The economy is so flat I’ve only been able to secure part time employment, and now with the employer mandate part time employee hours have been cut across the board. I used to get 32 hours per week. Since the mandate is coming they are hiring more part time people and hours have been cut down to 24 per week. Obama care has cost me $200 per week, now I have to try and find a second job so I can pay my bills.”  – Glenn K. from Mississippi
