6 Metaphors to Explain How Broken ObamaCare Is

October 22, 2013

We all know ObamaCare is broken – as Jon Stewart said last night, “the HealthCare.gov website has 99 problems, but a glitch is all of them!”

President Obama, in his speech yesterday at the White House, used several fun (and inappropriate) metaphors to describe the issues with ObamaCare, even going so far as to draw comparisons to Iraq by saying the White House would be deploying a “tech surge” to fix the website.

It turns out there are also plenty of metaphors to accurately describe the glitches and errors that are sinking ObamaCare. To start, here are 6 metaphors that explain just how broken ObamaCare is.

 1. ObamaCare is as Broken as Broken Glasses

The greatest fear of glasses-wearers everywhere. Not to mention the ever-lasting crisis for Scooby Doo’s Velma.

2. ObamaCare is as Broken as a Broken Leg

Only one involves glitches. Both involve a doctor, and both can be extremely painful.

3. ObamaCare is as Broken as a Broken Pencil

Usually the result of ferocious writing in elementary school, a broken pencil can cause some serious headaches and delays, much like ObamaCare.

4. ObamaCare is as Broken as a Broken iPhone

President Obama tried to compare the glitches in ObamaCare to the rollout of Apple’s iPhone. A more accurate metaphor might be the heart-seizing disappoint and frustration you feel after you drop your iPhone for the first time and break the screen.

5. ObamaCare is as Broken as a Broken Wall

You expect it to be sturdy and strong, only to find out that it isn’t what it’s hyped up to be, just like ObamaCare.

6. ObamaCare is as Broken as a Broken Wine Glass

A broken wine glass can be a pain, and it can also be a buzzkill, just like dealing with ObamaCare.
