Danielle from Bremerton, Washington, Relies on Seattle Children’s Hospital For Her Son’s Care

February 20, 2014

ObamaCare is blocking Seattle Children’s Hospital from providing care for children.

Seattle Children’s provides vital care for sick children in Washington State, and for mothers like Danielle, cutting Seattle Children’s from ObamaCare’s health plans only leads to more pain and frustration.

“My story is about my son’s care.

He is 17 months and been seen at [Seattle] Children’s since birth. We have even tried our local hospitals in Silverdale and Tacoma Mary Bridge, but they all send us to Seattle Children’s.

Oakley’s health is too delicate and complicated. Oakley was born with spina bifida, which has brought a very large team of doctors our way. His case is very complicated and needed to be closely monitored. I think it’s been about 8 hospital stays now, ranging from 1 to 3 weeks each, and 4 surgeries and counting. We don’t have a choice but to go there.

My son’s health is not worth the risk. If we have to, we will just let the bills pile up, versus get care else where by specialists that have already turned us away.

Our other option is to drive 4 hours ONE way to Portland hoping they would cover his care. My son has been blessed my an amazing team at Seattle Children’s and we can’t lose them .

But we also can’t afford them.”
