Throw the towel

Democrats throwing in the towel in NY-21

In case you missed it, today Darrel Aubertine conclusively ended speculation that he would run for Congress in the 21st District of New York by unequivocally stating that he would not be a candidate.

If you’re counting, take a look at the roster of Democrats who saw the writing on the wall and declined to run as a Democrat in 2014 – Bill Owens, Scott Murphy, John Sullivan, and Addie Russell.

So this leaves the Democrats with Aaron “Who” Woolf, who is apparently still registered to vote in Manhattan. So while Steve Israel keeps looking for “other out there” to run, it’s looking more and more like the Democrats chances in NY-21 are ending before we even get to spring.

NRCC Comment: “Darrel Aubertine is now the 5th high profile Democrat in the 21st District of New York to decide that it’s just not worth it to run for Congress and spend the next 8 months defending Obamacare only to face an inevitable defeat in November. With every day that passes it is looking like Democrats have no choice but to throw in the towel in this race before the calendar even turns to March.” – NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
