John Tierney Chooses To Protect ObamaCare Instead of Seniors

Puts ObamaCare’s Individual Mandate Over Protecting Seniors’ Access To Their Medicare Doctor

WASHINGTON – Today, putting loyalty to Nancy Pelosi before seniors, Democrat John Tierney voted to keep a whopping 24 percent cut to Medicare physicians in place in order to protect ObamaCare.

Tierney joined Democrats in opposing common-sense legislation that would avert this scheduled cut in Medicare payments to physicians, set to take effect on April 1.  The bill provides for a transition to a new payment system intended to reward quality of care that ensures America’s seniors and those with disabilities will be able to see their own doctors.  To pay for the cost of transitioning to the new system, the bill would delay ObamaCare’s Individual Mandate for five years and would reduce the deficit by $21 billion.

“John Tierney would rather vote in lockstep with Nancy Pelosi than protect Massachusetts seniors’ access to their doctor,” said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. “Tierney has had every opportunity to address the disastrous impact of ObamaCare, but he continues to choose to stand beside the failed law at the expense of his constituents. He should be ashamed.”
