Scott Peters Refuses to Condemn Lois Lerner
Democrats Vote Against Getting Answers And Holding the IRS Accountable
WASHINGTON – House Democrats aren’t just stonewalling the investigation into Benghazi, they also continue to hinder the investigation into the IRS. With today’s vote, Scott Peters, Nancy Pelosi, and their Democrat allies attempted to hide the truth and prevent Lois Lerner from being held accountable.
Rep. Scott Peters and his Democratic colleagues came to Lois Lerner’s aid and voted against holding Lerner in contempt after she has repeatedly refused to answer questions from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on the IRS targeting conservative groups for extra scrutiny. His vote against this legislation suggests he supports the IRS’ effort to target tax-exempt conservative groups based on their political beliefs.
“Scott Peters’ vote solidifies the fact that he has become a Washington insider and is out of touch with California voters,” said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. “Instead of demanding answers and holding the IRS accountable, Peters is helping the Administration cover-up a scandal in hopes of political support for his re-election.”
