Woah. The IRS Just Admitted It DESTROYED The Crashed Hard Drive That Had Lois Lerner’s Emails On It
NRCC | July 18, 2014

Not only did IRS official Lois Lerner’s hard drive “crash,” making retrieval of her emails relating to the IRS scandal next-to-impossible, but guess what the IRS did next?

According to the agency, they destroyed the hard drive.

This explanation comes after a federal judge ordered the IRS to explain what happened to the missing hard drive.

The IRS, aided by House Democrats, is determined to make it as difficult as possible for House Republicans to finally hold the agency accountable for its targeting of conservative political groups. What won’t they do?

From Yahoo News:

The IRS says in court papers filed Friday that the hard drive was destroyed in 2011 after two sets of trained technicians tried to retrieve the data. The tax agency says it was standard procedure to destroy old data storage equipment that may have contained confidential taxpayer information.

The IRS says Lerner’s computer crashed that year, destroying an untold number of emails. At the time, Lerner headed the division that handles applications for tax-exempt status.

Lerner is a central figure in congressional investigations into the handling of applications by tea party groups.
