CAUGHT ON VIDEO: Nick Rahall blasted by angry coal miners

August 4, 2014

This past Saturday Nick Rahall and other West Virginia Democrats attended a “West Virginia is not for sale” rally – ironic since Saturday morning the front page of the Charleston Gazette had a story about Rahall rejecting a proposal to limit outside spending in his race.

While leaving the rally, Rahall was confronted with coal miners that were sick of hearing him boast about his accomplishments from the Jimmy Carter era and wanted an explanation as to why Rahall supported Obama twice.

Rahall’s answer? “I’m a Democrat.” And therein lies the problem for Rahall. Because, as reported over the weekend, registered Democrats in West Virginia’s 3rd district are no longer voting along party lines when it hurts West Virginia – namely, voting for Obama and his agenda. Apparently, Rahall hasn’t gotten that memo.

NRCC Comment: “Nick Rahall supported Barack Obama twice and has repeatedly backed his agenda by voting for cap-and-trade, a carbon tax, and increased funding and power for the EPA. It’s no surprise that coal miners and their families are fed up with Rahall’s game of doing one thing in Washington D.C. and saying another in West Virginia.”– NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
