Diners, Dives and Disappointment

August 6, 2014

DDD

Americans are still asking: Where are the jobs? Our veterans are suffering from this administration’s failures. There’s the crisis on our border. And America is growing weaker abroad.

But the president seems more interested in playing pool, drinking beers and grabbing burgers. So it’s no surprise a majority of Americans now view President Obama and his administration as incompetent.

With the president dragging down Democrat incumbents coast-to-coast, he might want to spend August visiting some of their districts. And since he’s not interested in dealing with any real issues – he could even visit some diners and dives along the way.

Each week in August the NRCC will profile new districts for the president to visit.

President Obama and these Democrat incumbents might just learn how disappointed the American people are.

DDD Trip

California’s 7th Congressional District

Elk Grove, Sacramento suburbs

Democrat: Ami Bera

The Dish: In 2012, Ami Bera campaigned as a doctor, but he went to Washington and became a partisan politician. As a doctor, Ami Bera should know about the serious problems with ObamaCare. In fact, Bera has consistently voted to keep ObamaCare in place, despite its negative consequences for California families.

What’s on tap: President Obama and Ami Bera can travel the district, grab a beer and a bite to eat, and hear about the higher health care costs, cuts to medical services, and canceled health care plans caused by ObamaCare. Maybe Obama and Bera will find out how bad their failed health care law really is. Bera can also explain to his constituents why he votes with Nancy Pelosi nearly 9 out of 10 times.

Arizona’s 1st Congressional District

Greater Arizona, Flagstaff, White Mountains, Pinal County, Northern Pima County

Democrat: Ann Kirkpatrick

The Dish: Kirkpatrick is one of Obama’s biggest supporters. Not only did she vote for ObamaCare in 2010, but she has consistently voted against bipartisan solutions to stop its harmful effects for Arizonans.

What on tap: Whether it’s the college bar scene in Flagstaff or the many colorful saloons that dot this rural district, President Obama can learn first-hand how the policies he and Kirkpatrick are forcing on Arizonans are hurting their livelihoods. His administration has declared war on the job-rich Navajo Generating Station, and on ObamaCare, he’s found in Kirkpatrick one of his biggest allies in the nation.

Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District

Metro Tucson, Cochise County

Democrat:Ron Barber

The Dish:In 2012, Barber was so embarrassed to say he supported President Obama’s reelection that he refused to say so at a debate and was eventually shamed into admitting he supported Obama by the national media.

What’s on tap:From Tucson to Tombstone, this district offers a wide array of bars and restaurants where the president can learn from Southern Arizonan’s first-hand how his policies are hurting the community – whether it’s the crisis at the border or how his health care law is costing the average local senior $1,540. Barber has been by his side – voting to keep ObamaCare on the books and opposing a much needed border security package last week to please his party’s leaders.

Colorado’s 6th Congressional District

Denver’s southeast suburbs, Aurora, Littleton, Highlands Ranch

Democrat: Andrew Romanoff

The Dish: Like President Obama, Andrew Romanoff is a career politician who will say anything to get elected. Romanoff waged a failed campaign against a sitting Democrat U.S. Senator, who turned around and called Romanoff’s campaign sleazy and dishonest. Romanoff is the typical tax-and-spend liberal who wants to force his will on Coloradans every chance he gets.

What’s on tap: Andrew Romanoff was too afraid to campaign with President Obama last time he was in town to sample the local beer, but everyone knows Romanoff supports Obama and his reckless agenda. Obama and Romanoff can visit the many middle class neighborhood restaurants and bars to hear about the negative consequences directly caused by their failed policies.

Texas’ 23rd Congressional District

West Texas

Democrat: Pete Gallego

The Dish: In July of 2014, Pete Gallego was so afraid of President Obama coming to his district to visit the border that Gallego said a presidential visit would be a “photo op” and an “unneeded distraction” during one of the worst border crises we’ve seen. You know it’s bad when Congressman Gallego would rather defend the toxic president than have him in his own district this close to the election.

What’s on tap: This border district offers a wide array of fantastic food. Whether you love Tex-Mex or barbeque, this district has a ton of different restaurants and locations where President Obama could see first-hand how his inaction on the border and lack of an economic strategy is hurting the families of the 23rd District. Congressman Gallego was sent to Congress on the promise of being an independent voice but has voted in lockstep with Nancy Pelosi. This couldn’t have been more abundantly clear when Gallego voted against a much needed border security package last week.

Stay tuned for the next leg of our road trip next week!
