VIDEO: Obama Thankful for Nick Rahall

August 6, 2014

Check out this video of Barack Obama thanking Nick Rahall for his support over Hilary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic Primary – even after Obama said he wanted to bankrupt the coal industry. Obama may not have known it then, but he would ultimately have quite a lot to thank Nick Rahall about over the course of his presidency.

Certainly Obama would have thanked Rahall for voting for his 2009 budget containing cap-and-trade.

He definitely would have thanked Rahall for voting for Obamacare, which since its passage has resulted in Medicare Advantage being cut $1209.61 per senior in West Virginia’s 3rd District.

He could also say thanks for Rahall’s vote against the REINS Act, which would have given Congress the power to override anti-coal EPA regulations.

And there can be no doubt that Obama would be thankful for Rahall’s vote to limit carbon emissions through a carbon tax. Heck, even Nancy Pelosi didn’t vote for that.

All in all, Obama has a lot of thanks to give Nick Rahall for helping wage the War on Coal. The kind of gratitude that could only be demonstrated by a good game of pool. (video)

NRCC Comment: “In 2008 Barack Obama thanked Nick Rahall for his support in defeating Hilary Clinton, but six years later Obama could be thanking Rahall for so much more. Whether he is voting for cap-and-trade, for a carbon tax, or against a law that would prevent burdensome EPA anti-coal regulations, Rahall has given Obama so much support for his War on Coal for which Obama can truly be thankful. – NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
