Chairman Greg Walden’s Statement on Chris Gibson’s Retirement

January 6, 2015

WASHINGTON – NRCC Chairman Greg Walden released the following statement on Rep. Chris Gibson’s retirement:

“When I think of the words ‘duty,’ ‘honor,’ and ‘patriotism,’ I think of Chris Gibson. There are few people in our Congress today that better embody public service. He spent his life in his native Kinderhook, went to war, and later became a distinguished academic. He never forgot where he came from and it showed. Every day he woke up and came to work striving to do what’s right for the people of his hometown.

“Chris is many things: a father, husband, teacher, soldier, and friend. I know he will finish his last two years in Congress working every bit as hard for the people of New York as he has done since the day he arrived in DC four years ago.”
