Skyrocketing Heating Costs? Thank Annie Kuster!

February 24, 2015

weatherAs New Hampshire families continue facing bitter cold temperatures and skyrocketing home heating bills, Annie Kuster continues showing that she simply doesn’t care.  Kuster’s latest head-scratcher: Voting against legislation, H.R. 161, the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act, that would streamline the approval process for infrastructure projects to bring affordable energy to New England.

Back in September, National Grid warned consumers of the possibility of utility rate spikes due to the lacking pipeline infrastructure across New England, and this is a problem that won’t be going away anytime soon.  According to the New York Times, utility costs will remain high until “they can increase the pipeline capacity for natural gas, which powers more than half of New England.”

So why did Kuster vote with Nancy Pelosi (D – Sunny California) against a bill that would streamline the construction of natural gas pipelines?  Probably because the Obama Administration opposes the legislation.  And we all know that Annie Kuster wouldn’t dare stand up to the President since she describes herself as one of his strongest supporters in Congress.

NRCC Comment: “Annie Kuster would rather blindly support the President’s liberal agenda than fight for New Hampshire families struggling to heat their homes.  It’s a sad day when it’s more important for Annie Kuster to score brownie points with the President than it is helping her constituents afford their utility bills.” –NRCC Spokesman Chris Pack
