Democrats pick Bill de Blasio disciple in NY-11 special

Gentile

Last night Staten Island Democrats reached way down the junior varsity depth chart and officially picked Bill de Blasio discipline Vincent Gentile to run in the NY-11 special election.

And you know who’s happiest about that (other than us here at the NRCC)? Mayor Bill de Blasio and his 26% approval record on Staten Island.

After all, when the two served together in the City Council, Gentile voted with de Blasio 99% of the time. Whether it was raising New York City’s income tax, sales tax, property tax, or jacking up the fees required for getting married or joining the clergy, Gentile has followed de Blasio’s lead every step of the way.

That’s probably why Gentile got a ringing endorsement from de Blasio this week as well as an offer from the mayor to campaign together.

So whatever you want to label him – de Blasio Jr., 99% Vinny, “Don’t Call Me Domenic” Vin – we welcome Gentile to the race with open arms.

NRCC Comment: “Despite last November’s embarrassing defeat of Bill de Blasio-stooge Domenic Recchia, Staten Island Democrats have doubled down and chosen yet another de Blasio disciple in Vincent Gentile to run in the special election in New York’s 11th District. Make no mistake about it, with Gentile having a 99% voting record with de Blasio during their time on the City Council, Bill de Blasio’s policies will be very much on the ballot on May 5th.” – NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
