Yesterday Democrat Vinnie Gentile (running for Congress in NY-11) held a press conference announcing his opposition to the Republican budget. Given that Gentile is an uber-liberal Democrat that voted with Bill de Blasio 99% of the time, this is hardly surprising.

What is somewhat of a surprise, however, is that Gentile took the step of publicly opposing EVERYTHING in the budget. According to Gentile he’s not in favor of “anything” in the proposal. So for those keeping score at home, here is a sampling of what Gentile is not in favor of:

-Balancing the budget;

-Eliminates perks for members of Congress, such as first class airfare, taxpayer funded healthcare for life, and free gym memberships and haircuts;

-Lowering taxes for low and middle income families on Staten Island and Brooklyn;

-Cutting wasteful federal spending; and

-Maintaining a strong defense against our enemies abroad.

We can only assume that voters will agree that those positions make Gentile . . . unelectable.

NRCC Comment: “After voting with Bill de Blasio 99% of the time, it’s not surprising that Vinnie Gentile would target his campaign messaging to the small segment of voters that support de Blasio’s liberal agenda. What is surprising is that Gentile would publicly oppose cutting taxes for middle class families, eliminating first class airfare for Members of Congress, balancing the federal budget, and maintaining a strong national defense against our enemies abroad.” – NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
