Rick Nolan is dangerous

June 17, 2015

Some politicians try to hide their unpopular or extreme opinions. Not Rick Nolan. Nolan is notorious for his far-left positions on national security issues and has proudly laid out his dangerous philosophy for 8th District families to see, including multiple jaw dropping votes within the last week. Let’s take a look:

Forsaking our troops: Nolan voted against the funding bill that pays our men and women in uniform, while also providing funds to keep them well-equipped and battle-ready. The bill Nolan opposed also gave our troops a much needed raise.danger

Ignoring our veterans: Nolan voted against funding programs to help our nation’s veterans, including VA medical centers, outpatient clinics, contract hospitals, state homes and outpatient programs. The bill also provided resources to clear the VA’s claims backlog.

Transferring terrorists: In multiple votes, Nolan has made clear he wants to close GITMO. This means known terrorists would likely be transferred to American soil or back to their countries of origin. Both dangerous options.

Abandoning the Kurds: The Kurds are some of America’s best allies in the fight against ISIS, but Nolan introduced an amendment that would have eliminated “the $715 million allocated for equipping the Iraqi government and Kurdish military forces against ISIS.” Nolan doesn’t want US troops to fight ISIS, and he doesn’t want to help our allies who do.

Undermining our Intelligence: Nolan voted against giving the Intelligence Community (including the CIA, the National Security Agency and the Defense Intelligence Agency) the authorization needed to protect and defend the United States barely a week after it was revealed that China hacked deep into OPM databases.

“Rick Nolan’s extreme ideas on national security are out of step with Minnesota families. From opposing pay increases for our troops to voting in favor of freeing know terrorists from Gitmo, 8th District families can’t trust Nolan’s dangerous plans for our national security.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter
