DCCC loses top recruit in NV-03

July 8, 2015

Just days into the race for the open seat in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, national Democrats have embarrassingly lost one of their top recruits.

According to the Associated Press, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee members met with state Senate Minority Leader Aaron Ford in Las Vegas just weeks ago to recruit him to run in NV-03. Unfortunately for the DCCC, Ford dealt them a painful blow today when he declined to run:

Per the RGJ, “State Senate Minority Leader Aaron Ford, D-Las Vegas, said in a statement Wednesday that he won’t run for the 3rd U.S. House District seat, noting that others have urged him to do so.”

Democrats have been disappointed by crushing defeats in the 3rd District for the last two cycles, and it looks like that’s all they have to look forward to in 2016 as well.

“Democrats just can’t get their act together in Nevada’s 3rd District, and Aaron’s Ford’s refusal to run only solidifies their ineptitude. After two consecutive crushing defeats in CD3, it’s clear Nevada Democrats are hesitant to be the next Erin Bilbray.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter
