Scott Peters Standing Up for Terrorists Instead of California Families

October 1, 2015

Scott Peters has once again put politics ahead of the American people. Today he voted against H.R. 3457, Justice for Victims of Iranian Terrorism Act, in turn supporting the funneling of resources to Iranian terrorist groups instead of standing up for American citizens.

The Justice for Victims of Iranian Terrorism Act would prohibit Iran from receiving relief from economic sanctions unless it pays billions of dollars in court-ordered damages to the victims of terrorist attacks. Instead of supporting the victims of senseless terrorist attacks, forcing Iran to pay off their debt of more than $43.5 billion in damages, Peters supported his liberal party leaders and Iranian terrorist groups.

“Scott Peters is putting the interests of a state sponsor of terrorism over the very people he was elected to represent and protect,” said NRCC Communications Director Katie Martin. “Instead of taking a stand against Iran and standing up for their innocent victims, Peters has turned a blind eye to their indiscretions. California families deserve a member they can trust to protect them, and not the terrorists.”
