Steve Israel: Pay raises for him, but not for our soldiers

October 1, 2015

New York’s least effective Congressman, Steve Israel, just broke with all of his fellow Long Island members of Congress, including fellow Democrat Kathleen Rice, to vote against the National Defense Authorization Act.  The NDAA authorizes funding for our men and women in uniform and their families in addition to the defense programs that support and equip our military.  The bill also allows for a 1.3 % pay raise for our servicemembers.

It should come as no surprise that Israel chose to turn his back on soldiers who deserve a paycheck to instead vote with Nancy Pelosi since he already does that 97.7% of the time.  But what is surprising is that while Israel doesn’t think our military forces are deserving of a pay raise, he voted to give himself a pay raise back in May.

Steve Israel:  Pay raises for him, but not for our soldiers.

NRCC Comment: “It is sad that Steve Israel would vote to raise his own pay but has no problem voting against pay raises for our military and their families.  Steve Israel continues to demonstrate that he only cares about himself and not his constituents.”  –NRCC Spokesman Chris Pack
