Will Ami Bera Speak Up For Pay Raises for Our Troops?

October 21, 2015

With President Barack Obama threatening to veto the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), will Ami Bera tell the president to stop playing politics with our military personnel’s paychecks? In addition to authorizing funding for the United States Armed Forces, the NDAA also includes a 1.3 percent pay raise for our troops.  Is Bera’s loyalty to President Obama stronger than his loyalties to the brave men and women of our military?

“If Ami Bera truly believes that the men and women of our Armed Forces deserve pay raises, then he should publicly call on President Obama to sign the NDAA into law,” stated NRCC Communications Director Katie Martin. “Hopefully Ami Bera agrees that some issues are too important for political gamesmanship including pay raises for our troops.”

The NDAA helps ensure that the men and women of our military have the resources they need to defend our nation abroad while also ensuring that their families receive the funding they have rightfully earned, including a 1.3 percent pay raise.  The bill passed the House and Senate with bipartisan support.  Bera represents 47,472 civilian veterans and 1,063 active members of the Armed Forces and their families in the House of Representatives.
