ISIS Dilemma: Does Scott Peters Support President Obama’s Rejected Strategy?

December 7, 2015

One hour after a new poll came out Sunday night showing a large majority of Americans disagree with President Obama’s ISIS strategy, the President took to national television to double down on his current course of action.  So what does Scott Peters think?  Does he stand with President Obama by supporting his current strategy that is roundly being rejected nationwide?

“Scott Peters’ constituents deserve a representative who is willing to put the safety of Americans ahead of playing nice with a President who has not taken the threat of ISIS seriously,” said NRCC Communications Director Katie Martin. “A large majority of Americans think the President’s strategy for dealing with ISIS isn’t working. Scott Peters needs to tell his constituents why he supports the President’s current strategy which is jeopardizing the safety of Americans both at home and abroad.”

According to a recent CNN/ORC International poll, 81 percent of Americans believe there are terrorists associated with ISIS in the United States with the ability to launch an attack.  64 percent of Americans disapprove of how Obama is handling the threat of ISIS, with 60 percent saying military action against ISIS in Iraq and Syria is going badly.  The poll, which was conducted prior to last week’s terrorist attacks in San Bernardino, found that 61 percent of Americans believed there would be acts of terrorism in the United States within the next several weeks.
