DCCC Insults Courage Of Combat Veteran Mike Coffman

December 17, 2015

In a move reminiscent of their outrageous attack on another veteran, the DCCC went out of their way yesterday to insult the courage of Marine combat veteran Congressman Mike Coffman. In a statement to the Aurora Sentinel, the DCCC said Coffman lacked “backbone,” going so far as to imply that he sided with terrorists over his own constituents:combat action ribbon

“Coloradans deserve a representative with some backbone – not someone who has the back of suspects on the terror watchlist.”

This is the same Mike Coffman that served honorably in both Iraq Wars and received the Combat Action Ribbon “which is awarded to Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard members who participated in ground or surface combat and ‘rendered satisfactory performance under enemy fire.” On top of his selfless service in the Marines, Coffman has been a tireless advocate for veterans, leading the charge to reform the VA and complete the Aurora hospital.

Does DCCC Press Secretary Tyler Law (@tyzlaw) really think it’s appropriate to question Mike Coffman’s backbone after he served multiple tours in Iraq?

There’s a troubling pattern emerging of the DCCC insulting brave veterans who have risked their lives to protect the United States. Democrats should be ashamed.

“It’s troubling that Morgan Carroll would stand by the DCCC and their insults to war veterans who risked their lives defending our country. Mike Coffman has served multiple tours Iraq and has been a tireless advocate for veterans. Morgan Carroll and the DCCC need to immediately apologize to Rep. Coffman and veterans across the country who have risked their own lives to protect our freedom.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter
