Obama Threatens To Veto Troop Funding Bill And Pete Gallego Is Silent

May 17, 2016

ObamaPresident Obama is threatening to veto the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA),  legislation that authorizes funding to equip and train our troops. Unfortunately for our men and women in uniform, Pete Gallego is nowhere to be found. Instead of standing up to his fellow Democrats who are putting party before the safety of our troops, Gallego is staying on the sidelines. Again.

On top of President Obama’s veto threat, House Democrats are more focused on pushing language to close GITMO and bring terrorists to American soil than they are moving legislation to give our troops a much needed pay raise. Talk about priorities. Pete Gallego needs to make a choice: will he support our troops and call on President Obama sign the NDAA, or will he continue to put partisan politics ahead of our men and women in uniform?

NRCC Comment: “Pete Gallego continues to stand silently as his fellow Democrats put politics before our men and women in uniform. Instead of blindly toeing the party line, Gallego owes it to our troops to stand up to President Obama and call on him to abandon his reckless veto threat.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter
