Rick Nolan Is Working Overtime To Make Us Less Safe

June 16, 2016

Nolan votesRick Nolan has a long record of dangerous national security votes, but today Nolan worked overtime to make our nation less safe. As the House considered the Defense Appropriations bill, Nolan left behind a trail of extreme votes that are badly out of touch with the 8th District:

Amendment No. 29 –  voted to identify locations within the United States to relocate terrorist detainees currently held at United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (GITMO).

Amendment No. 44 – Voted to block funding for Operation Inherent Resolve, the airstrike operation to eliminate ISIS and the threat they pose to the United States, our allies, and the region.

Amendment No. 45 – voted to end Operation Inherent Resolve, the airstrike operation to eliminate ISIS and the threat they pose to the United States, our allies, and the region.

Amendment No. 46 – voted to cut defense spending by $4 billion, including funding for our troops in the field, funding for training, ammunition, supplies, and equipment maintenance.

Nolan has always and will always put his extreme ideology before the safety and security of the American people. Today was just the latest example of how far out there Nolan really is.

NRCC Comment: “Rick Nolan’s votes today are just the latest in a long history of Nolan putting his extreme ideology before our national security. Nolan’s votes to cut our military’s budget and end airstrikes against ISIS are simply dangerous and out-of-touch with ensuring the safety and security of 8th District families.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter
