Santarsiero’s tax accord crusade would save him $49,000 annually

July 19, 2016

steve santarsieroHas anyone else noticed how abnormally vocal Steve Santarsiero has been with his opposition to ending the PA-NJ tax accord? He’s issued press releases, tweets, petitions, etc. Since it’s very unlike Santarsiero to be out front on basically any issue, we did a little digging. It turns out that Santarsiero makes a lot of money off of the tax accord.

Santarsiero claimed $837,882 in income on his financial disclosure report from Pepper-Hamilton LLP in Princeton, New Jersey. Using the math outlined* on Santarsiero’s legislative website, that means he personally benefits from the PA-NJ tax accord to the tune of $49,435 per year in lower taxes.

NRCC Comment: “It’s no wonder that Steve Santarsiero is so vocally opposed to ending the PA-NJ tax according since he receives over $800,000 per year in income from New Jersey. It’s too bad more issues don’t personally affect Steve Santarsiero’s wallet since that appears to be the only way to get him to do his job.” –NRCC Spokesman Chris Pack

*We had to add a row to cover Santarsiero’s $837,882 in New Jersey income because his chart only went up to $500,000.
