DWS resigns, Kaine surrenders the House – Welcome to Philadelphia!

Well the Democratic National Convention sure is off to a great start.

The Democratic party was thrown into chaos less than four months before Election Day, as Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was forced to resign following the leak of emails showing the DNC actively working against Bernie Sanders in the primary. Republicans will, of course, be sad to see her go, as few have done more to elect Republicans across the country these last few years than Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

To make things even worse for Democrats, newly minted Vice Presidential nominee Tim Kaine went on 60 Minutes last night and declared that the House “will remain in Republican hands,” after the election. Though it’s a bit jarring to watch someone sharing a presidential ticket with Hillary Clinton actually tell the truth, Kaine is simply being realistic with his prediction for the House. Democrats have failed to recruit credible candidates in key districts across the country, leaving them without a path to a majority. By admitting that House Democrats will remain in the minority in the next Congress, Kaine is simply stating the obvious.

NRCC Communications: “The Democrat convention is off to a great start with the forced resignation of their Chairwoman and their Vice Presidential nominee going on national television to declare that Republicans will retain our House majority in November. Tim Kaine knows what should be obvious to anyone paying attention this cycle – House Democrats failed to recruit credible candidates in key swing districts across the country, and do not have a path to a majority.” – NRCC Spokesman Bob Salera
