Will John Delaney change his position on GITMO?

August 10, 2016

John Delaney should really start rethinking his position on GITMO.  While Delaney has voted multiple times to close Guantanamo Bay and relocate terrorists onto U.S. soil, a frightening new report shows just how dangerous this policy is.1280px-Camp_Delta,_Guantanamo_Bay,_Cuba

The report profiles the dangerous terrorists still being held at GITMO which include, al-Qaeda bomb makers, Osama bin Laden’s personal bodyguard, and 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. More shocking, the Department of Defense has reported that 93% of the detainees still being held at the facility are at high risk for re-engagement in terrorism, and a dozen of terrorists released last year have launched attacks against Americans.

These are the types of dangerous people John Delaney would welcome into the U.S. just to score a few political points with Democratic Party leaders. So given this new information, does John Delaney still support closing GITMO and bringing terrorists onto U.S. soil?

NRCC Comment: “John Delaney has voted multiple times to close GITMO and transfer known terrorists onto American soil.  Now that a new report highlights how reckless and misguided this position is, will Delaney admit his mistake and actually start fighting to protect Maryland families, instead of his political career?” -NRCC Spokesperson Camille Gallo
