Rick Nolan’s Iran Deal even weaker than we thought

Over the past few months we’ve seen just how bad the Rick Nolan supported Iran nuclear deal really is.

In January, Secretary of State John Kerry admitted that sanctions relief under the deal would go to terrorism. In March, Iran began test-firing ballistic missiles with “Israel should be wiped of the Earth” written on the side, as the State Department admitted that the nuclear deal did not address ballistic missile tests. In July, a secret document was revealed that showed that key restrictions under the deal would be lifted even before its expiration, allowing Iran to expand its uranium enrichment program in just ten years. And last month, the Obama administration admitted that it made a $400 million ransom payment to Iran for the release of U.S. hostages, setting a dangerous precedent for future dealings with the nation.

Yet through it all, Rick Nolan has remained staunchly in support of the disastrous deal, even voting against restrictions aimed at ensuring sanctions relief would not go to terrorist groups.

And today, a report from Reuters shows that Iran was violating the deal before sanctions relief even went into effect. Yet, instead of punishing Iran or even delaying sanctions relief, the Obama administration agreed in secret to provide exemptions from restrictions on the Iranian nuclear program so that sanctions relief could go ahead as scheduled. With these new revelations, Will Rick Nolan finally drop his support for this dangerous deal? Or will he stand silently as the Obama administration’s foreign policy continues to make the world less safe.

NRCC Comment: “Today’s report shows that the Rick Nolan supported Iran nuclear deal is even weaker than originally thought, as the Obama administration agreed to exemptions from key restrictions when it was discovered that Iran was not compliant by the sanctions relief deadline. President Obama’s dangerous Iran nuclear deal makes the world less safe, emboldens our enemies, and funds terrorism, yet Rick Nolan continues to give the deal his unwavering support.” – NRCC Spokesman Bob Salera
