Why Does Jim Mowrer’s Story Keep Changing?

September 19, 2016

Last week, National Journal highlighted Jim Mowrer’s continued issues with misleading campaign ads.

In an unusual move, Mowrer’s campaign pulled down an ad just hours after going on the air. Originally, the Mowrer campaign released an ad referencing his “longest tour” which was quickly taken down and replaced with a new ad referencing his “longest deployment.” The switch came just days after the Des Moines Register published an article calling Mowrer’s first ad “mostly false” for its claims.

When asked about the abrupt pull of the ad and change of language, the Mowrer campaign stated, “We made a single word change between two largely interchangeable words.”

Even after four years of running for office, it appears Mowrer’s story is still changing.

NRCC Comment: “After his first ad was found to be ‘mostly false,’ Jim Mowrer is again facing questions about his latest TV spot. It raises questions that, even after four years of running for Congress, Mowrer’s story is still changing.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Kate Constantini
