Rick Nolan Stands with Iranian Officials

September 21, 2016

Rick Nolan has once again picked Iran over America. His vote against the Iranian Leadership Asset Transparency Act proves Nolan would rather protect Iran’s privacy than fight to stop the threat of terrorism.

The Iran Leadership Asset Transparency Act would require the Treasury secretary to compile and submit to Congress a report detailing the known assets of Iran’s top political and military leaders, how those assets were acquired, and how they are used. Rick Nolan’s obstructionist vote against this bill would allow top Iranian officials to continue to stockpile money without transparency, which could then be funneled to terrorist organizations. This stockpile may also grow larger from the sanctions relief by the Iran nuclear deal, enabling these corrupt officials to profit further.

“It’s clear Rick Nolan would rather protect Iranian politicians than stop the threat of terrorism,” said NRCC Communications Director Katie Martin. “Instead of voting in favor of privacy for Iran, a state sponsor of terrorism, Rick Nolan should be fighting to keep America safe and strengthen our national security.”
