Brad Ashford: “I don’t have to agree with Nancy Pelosi on anything…to vote for her for speaker.”
Career politician Brad Ashford had a rare moment of honesty and admitted that he will vote for Nancy Pelosi for speaker, no matter what she does or stands for. In fact, Ashford even goes so far as to admit that he will always be a reliable vote for her simply because Pelosi helped him get elected. This is the classic political quid pro quo at its finest. From the World-Herald:
“They supported me and they helped me get elected and I’m going to be a vote for the Democrat for speaker,” Ashford said. “I don’t have to agree with Nancy Pelosi on anything, really, in order to vote for her for speaker.”
To recap: no matter how wrong Pelosi’s policies are for 2nd District families, Ashford will back her for speaker because she helped get him elected. Ashford has already voted for Pelosi twice and has now promised 2nd District voters that a vote for him is a vote for Pelosi – no matter what.
From the man who told voters he would be “whatever you want me to be,” this display of honesty, however cynical, is simply startling.
