Jim Mowrer can’t live up to his own words

October 13, 2016

“I’m running for Congress because Washington has forgotten what serving is about, helping those who need it most.” Those are nice words from Democratic candidate Jim Mowrer, if only he could actually live up to them.

A recent editorial from the Des Moines Register highlighted David Young’s work to pass the “No Veterans Crisis Line Call Should Go Unanswered Act.” It has been weeks since the bill was overwhelming passed by the House but unfortunately, Senate Democrats, led by ineffective Harry Reid have blocked the passage of the bill, stopping it short from hitting the President’s desk.

But what is more concerning is Jim Mowrer’s continued silence on the issue. Mowrer is hiding in the background while his party plays politics, blocking an important bill for Iowa veterans.

David Young is doing his job and working across the aisle to help those who need it most. It’s time Jim Mowrer took a lesson.

NRCC Comment: “Jim Mowrer offers Iowans nothing but platitudes and empty promises, while David Young is doing the hard work to make sure veterans get the care they deserve. If Mowrer can’t stand up to his own party and help those who need it most, he doesn’t deserve to walk the halls of Congress.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Kate Constantini
