Tom O’Halleran should give up his salary

April 25, 2017

The scandal entangling Kyrsten Sinema for taking tens of thousands of dollars from an alleged child sex trafficking scheme has a new casualty: vulnerable freshman Democrat Tom O’Halleran.

In an article titled “AZ GOP: O’Halleran took tainted money,” the White Mountain Independent writes: “Arizona GOP officials say between October 2016 and January 2017, O’Halleran accepted $2,700 from John Brunst, a Backpage.com executive, and $5,400 from Ellona Spear, the wife of a Backpage.com executive. The donations total $8,100.”

Through a spokeswoman, O’Halleran refused to apologize and claimed he wasn’t aware of the website’s practices, even though the newspaper notes the allegations have been public for years. What’s more ironic is that O’Halleran just released a statement piously pledging to give up his salary if the government shuts down.

“Tom O’Halleran should give up his salary for taking tainted money from an alleged child sex trafficking scheme and refusing to apologize for it. His desperation to win re-election has clearly clouded his ability to see right from wrong.” -NRCC Spokesman Jack Pandol
