Not one drop

The state of California is recovering from a parched several years of drought that left the state’s water reserves at an all-time low. As the record-high snowpack in the Sierra Nevada Mountains melts, Republicans in Congress have taken action to protect and sustain California’s critical water supply. This action helps streamline the permitting process for new water storage facilities at a critical time for California.

However, not a single vulnerable California Democrat could be bothered to support this action to help their constituents.

By OPPOSING this action, Ami Bera, Salud Carbajal, Raul Ruiz, and Scott Peters OPPOSED:

    • Accelerating construction of reservoirs to address the current water shortage crisis

    • Doing away with regulations preventing much-needed reservoirs from being built

    • Providing relief to drought-stricken communities in the Central Valley and Southern California

“Today’s vote proves that Democrats are more afraid of radical environmentalists than they are concerned with helping their own drought-stricken constituents. While Republicans lead to help California recover from years of drought, Democrats are sitting on their hands and letting this chance to capture much-needed water float on by.” -NRCC Spokesman Jack Pandol
