Priorities

July 14, 2017

Oregon Democrats Peter DeFazio and Kurt Schrader just made a pretty strong statement about their feelings on national security: it’s just not a priority.

Today, by voting NO on the National Defense Authorization Act, DeFazio and Schrader are on record AGAINST:

  • Providing men and women in uniform the tools they need to address numerous threats facing our nation
  • Allowing a 2.4% pay increase for military personnel
  • Authorizing funding to research & develop anti-missile defense systems to protect against North Korea
  • Authorizing funding to support the continuing fight against ISIS
  • Prohibiting a new round of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)
  • Authorizing funding to provide families of service members affordable housing
  • Protecting military sexual assault victims

“Peter DeFazio and Kurt Schrader couldn’t be bothered to lift a finger in support of our troops who are in the line of fire keeping us safe. This shameful vote demonstrates DeFazio and Schrader are less concerned with doing their jobs as United States Congressmen than they are with making a political statement, and they will be held accountable.” -NRCC Spokesman Jack Pandol
