After a very public flirtation with another bid in Texas’ 23^rd District, former Democratic Congressman Pete Gallego took himself out of the running yesterday – blowing a hole in Democrats’ hopes to retake the seat.

Gallego’s about-face is further proof of Will Hurd’s strength as a formidable candidate in Texas’ 23^rd district.

As Gallego slinks away with his tail between his legs, the rest of the relatively anonymous Democratic field is left to fight among themselves while Hurd remains focused on his district.
